Here is the poster child of why we can't have nice things.
We constantly get the same complaint about stainless steel gas ranges. "Why does it have to have that black top?" Our customers incessantly demand, forgetting that We neither manufacture the product nor design it. "That's just so ugly."
Well, dear consumer, GE listened to you. They took their best selling Profile PGB911 gas range and outfitted it with a fetching stainless steel burner deck. They did exactly as you asked, gave you precisely what you wanted, and what did you collectively do?
You refused to buy it in droves. Apparently because it's a few dollars more expensive than the black topped version. It seems to us that your complaint about the black burner deck wasn't that important to you after all, even when the price difference turned out to be a proverbial drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the rest of your appliance package.
This product is exactly what you asked for, you know. All it ever wanted in life was to please you, and yet you ignore it. You leave it sitting in the dark corner of the warehouse. All alone, gathering dust, unsold, bereft of a loving home and wondering what it did wrong. We have to stay up nights consoling the poor little PGB911ZEJSS, reassuring it that it really is a beautiful gas range and some day it will find the right person who will love it and take it home.
But it probably doesn't believe Us. We're not really 100 percent sure, since it can't talk.
Your mixed messages and unrealistic standards of beauty did this; We hope you're happy with yourselves.
