Where to Find Your Appliance Serial Numbers
Your serial numbers are required for warranty claims, repairs, and to claim rebates. Every appliance has a serial number supplied by the manufacturer. The serial number is located on label that is typically affixed to the interior of the appliance where it will be protected from damage. The most common location is just inside the door. The serial number is also noted each appliance's packaging.
See below for example serial number labels from various types of product. Serial number labels contain the serial number (L) and usually also the model number (E).
Serial number labels are meant to be permanent, and made from materials that will last the lifetime of the appliance. Do not remove the serial number labels from your appliances for any reason -- this will prevent you from obtaining warranty service or claiming rebates, and product that has had serial number labels defaced or removed is not returnable under any circumstances.
Sometimes serial number labels are difficult to find or hidden. This guide will outline common locations for serial number labels on most brands of appliances we sell.
Range serial number labels are most often located inside the storage drawer, either on the inside edge of the drawer or on the frame where it closes.
Models equipped with double ovens or warming drawers may have the serial number label applied to the rear of the unit to protect it from heat generated during operation. Whirlpool family and GE models with double ovens have the serial number tag located on a flip-up metal tab on the rear of the control panel, which can usually be accessed even with the unit still placed against the wall.
Dishwasher serial number labels are inside the door, either on the left or right edge of the interior portion of the door.
Over-the-Range microwave serial labels are normally located behind the door on the door frame. Some older models may have the label on the interior, on the upper front corner.
Countertop microwave serial number labels are either on the door frame behind the door or interior cavity walls near the door. Alternatively, they may be located on the back or side of the appliance.
Serial number labels for front load washing machines are typically located inside the door on the door frame.
Serial number labels for top load washing machines are typically located underneath the lid, either on the rear portion of the lid or on the lid frame. Samsung models and some others instead have the label on the rear of the appliance, and you may have to move it away from the wall or tilt it to read the label. Do not tilt a washing machine that is loaded or full of water.
