Accidental burner operation is prevented with a safety button on the center rib of each burner control knob, which must be pinched slightly and then the knob pushed in to enable activation. Brushing against or leaning against the control panel will not activate the burners. You're in control: If you prefer not to use this feature, simply remove the knob and slide the switch on the rear from "3 step" to "2 step." 3 step mode requires a pinch, press in the knob, and turn. 2 step mode only requires pushing in the knob and turning.
